Apple and OpenAI are set to jointly announce at WWDC (Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference) that they will integrate OpenAI’s technology into iOS 18. Apple aims to offer cloud services and improve Siri, automatic notification summaries, and voice memo transcription.
The agreement is not a long-term solution, and discussions are ongoing with Google on integrating Gemini.
Apple could also revisit the search engine issue, as Google pays Apple $20 billion a year for default search. With Apple now exploring generative AI partnerships, there is speculation they could revisit the search engine deal terms or even switch defaults as leverage in negotiations.
